UFC 244 is set to take place on Nov. 2 at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York. This will serve as the rare UFC pay-per-view event without a championship on the line in the marquee bout of the evening, but the newly-minted, one-time-only “BMF” title will be at stake when Nate Diaz scraps with Jorge Masvidal in the night’s main event.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the former WWE superstar whose charisma carried him toward becoming one of the top-drawing movie stars on Earth, will officially be on hand at UFC 244 on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Johnson will be in attendance to wrap the “BMF” championship belt around the waist of the winner in the main event showdown between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. Johnson, who made his WWE debut inside MSG in November 1996, confirmed his participation at the event during an Instagram Live video with UFC president Dana White.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has already been confirmed to strap the $50,000 BMF belt around the waist of the winner of Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 244 on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Now, the superstar actor is taking it a bit further. Johnson said in an Instagram Live session with UFC president Dana White on Tuesday that he would make a special announcement at the UFC 244 press conference Friday.
It’s something I wanted to tell the UFC fans and the MMA community first and I can’t wait,” Johnson said
While he wouldn’t drop any hints about what that announcement might be about, Johnson also refrained from picking a winner in Saturday night’s main event.
I just want to see a great fight,” Johnson said. “I think this addition to the company and the brand and to this sport — this BMF belt — I think it’s brilliant, I think it’s so smart and I think it’s fun. It’s fun for the fighters. It gives them some juice.”
What do you think The Rock will tell the millions — and millions — of fans tuning in to his announcement?
As expected, Nate Diaz was in a fiery mood on his UFC 244 media conference call ahead of his BMF showdown with Jorge Masvidal.
Diaz nearly withdrew from the fight about a week out because of an adverse finding on a drug test. He went into detail about the situation on the conference call, including stating how he feels that the UFC is not behind him or his brother, Nick Diaz, in their fight careers.
Diaz also, of course, discussed the fight with Masvidal and his respect for his opponent heading into their UFC 244 headlining bout on Nov. 2, 2019, at Madison Square Garden in New York.
